Let the stars come out
By SARA AGNEW of the Tribune’s staff
Richard King is no stranger to the demands of the limelight. The owner of The Blue Note nightclub is best known as Columbia’s man behind the curtain, booking big bands and handling the business side of the local music industry.

MUSIC

Music and memories
By JOHN GEROME of The Associated Press
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - It’s no shock that the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum got a tepid response from Hank Williams Jr. on their plans for an exhibit on his family, from his iconic and troubled father through his own hell-raising days to his children’s lives.

Carly cooks with new Brazilian CD

By LYNN ISRAEL of the Tribune’s staff

Learn more about the event at artinthepark.missouri.org.

Poppy’s new exhibition celebrates inventiveness
Whimsical could be one of the words to describe a new exhibit at Poppy by artists from Missouri and around the nation. The show, which opened last week, features designers, jewelers and metalsmiths. The artists include Janice Ho from Hannibal; Kathy Frey of Chicago; and Trish Stevenson and Kim Caisse, both from Madison, Wis.

BOOKS

Civil War letters deliver message of human endurance and love
By JOSEPH FRAZIER of Associated Press
The book "Go If You Think It Your Duty" isn’t the Civil War history of textbooks or lecture halls. It’s the kind we seldom see - the kind tucked away in forgotten, dusty packets of letters in forgotten trunks in attic corners.
