Sandra Stewart, 1948-2008

Sandra Lee Stewart, 59, died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at St. Johns Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif., after a short illness.

A Celebration of Life for Sandy was held in Santa Monica with family and friends.

She was born in St. Louis, daughter of Clark and Jean Stewart of Columbia.

She married Ernest Jones in 1975. He preceded her in death.

Sandy attended Madison West High School in Madison, Wis. She earned a social work degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence and a criminal law specialist degree from the University of West Los Angeles.

She used her social work skills in Missouri, Kansas and Colorado. She was employed by the Los Angeles Times as project manager and with the Rand Corp. as research support manager, a position she maintained until her health deteriated.

Survivors include her parents; sisters Salle Stewart, Belinda Lower and husband Mike, and brother Andrew Stewart and wife Ninnette; nieces and nephews Stewart Houpt and wife Lisa, Jessica Martinie, Jason Houpt and wife Annie, Dylan Lower, and Patrick, Casey and Jackson Stewart.
