When Andrew Starykowicz got tangled with an official while on his bike at the St. Anthony’s Triathlon on April 27 in St. Petersburg , Fla., the crash proved advantageous. It just took him a week to see it that way.

On May 6, 2005, Max Scherzer delivered one of the signature performances of his college career. Against fifth-ranked Nebraska, in front of 5,764 Big Red fans, Scherzer threw a complete game in a 2-1 Missouri victory. He was still throwing 96 mph in the ninth and struck out the last four batters. The opposing pitcher that night was fellow sophomore flamethrower Joba Chamberlain.
