Lloyd Nichols, 1925-2008

Lloyd W. "Waddie" Nichols, 82, of Holts Summit passed away Friday, May 2, 2008.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Robinson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.

Waddie was born Nov. 11, 1925, in Boone County, the son of Thomas and Lydia Bell Purcell Nichols.

He married Evelyn Watson on Dec. 17, 1950, in Ashland.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Waddie worked as a laborer in construction until his retirement. He was a foreman in the union.

Survivors included his wife, Evelyn, of the home; one son, Dennis Nichols and wife LaNita of Hartsburg; two daughters, Leslie Hughes and husband Ted, and Sharon Cain, all of Holts Summit; seven grandchildren, Becky, Christopher, Laura, Autumn, Amber, Matthew and Drew; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Xavier.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Kent Nichols and Lloyd Thomas Nichols; and seven brothers.
