Pund’s past predicts great work in House
Published Saturday, May 3, 2008
Editor, the Tribune: Bob Pund would be a strong advocate for the 25th District. A legislator should listen to the constituents, study the issues and tenaciously advocate for constituents’ best interest, no matter what. Determination and resilience are essential. Pund has been tested like few others, and he has passed with flying colors. He was in a car accident at 20 that left him paralyzed from the shoulders down. Despite this, Bob went back to school just a year after his accident to get a degree in political science. He also studied education in college, which gives him the tools he needs to find solutions to the educational problems Missouri faces. Bob values education for everyone because his life is a testament to how an education can level the playing field and open the door to the American dream. Bob has a unique view of the health-care system because he has been a patient, patient counselor, educator, patient advocate and legislative advocate for health-care issues. He has earned the Advocate of the Year award from two organizations. Bob would be the best advocate for meaningful change in health care. We cannot afford to miss this opportunity. Bob shares Columbians’ belief that we can improve the economy, environment, education, highways and health care by implementing forward-thinking ideas. He is the best candidate for the 25th District because he has an ability to get around obstacles, and he would use those skills and tenacity to improve the lives of Missourians.
