Theft of checkbook leads to forgery case

An Ashland man has been charged with three counts of forgery after allegedly stealing a checkbook and writing checks for more than $800 last year.

Koehler

Ashland police on Tuesday arrested Christopher S. Koehler, 42, of 806 S. Henry Clay Blvd. on warrants for forgery. Koehler was charged in October.

According to Boone County Circuit Court documents, Koehler took a checkbook from an employer and passed the checks on several occasions at a Break Time convenience store last July. The 23 checks totaling $818.86 were not authorized by the victim. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled May 27.

Koehler was released yesterday from the Boone County Jail after posting a $13,500 bond.
