Shirley Mansfield, 1924-2008

Shirley Jean Mansfield, 84, of Centralia died Friday, March 21, 2008, at Boone Hospital Center. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Centralia. Officiating will be Ronald Beard, deacon of First Baptist Church in Centralia. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at Fenton Funeral Chapel. She was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Moberly, the daughter of Lonie Bragg and Clara Olive Grier O’Bryan. On Nov. 12, 1940, she was married in Moberly to Russell Elsvan Mansfield, and he survives. He resides at Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo. Shirley was a member of First Baptist Church and Chapter No. 195 Order of the Eastern Star, both in Centralia; and the Rebekah Lodge No. 295 in Mexico. However, she served as Noble Grand when the lodge was in Centralia. She was a graduate of Moberly Junior College. Other survivors include a son, Terry Kenneth Mansfield of Madison; a daughter, Sheralyn Gale Ehler of Columbia; four grandchildren, Michael John Mansfield of Fort Myers, Fla., Ronald Wayne Mansfield of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Sheila Michelle Ehler and John Wade Ehler, both of Columbia; and five great-grandchildren, Austin Mansfield and Wayne Mansfield, both of Fort Myers, Brandon Scott Ehler and Bethany Nicole Ehler, both of Columbia, and Justin Blake Ehler of Warrensburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Evelyn Castle; and brother Kenneth O’Bryan. Pallbearers will be Jim Hudson, George Cox, John Ehler, Joe Bryson, Brandon Ehler, Michael Mansfield, Ronald Mansfield and Brian Peavler. The family suggests memorials to Missouri Veterans Home, 1 Veterans Drive, Mexico, Mo., 65265.
