Local Libertarians set for event today

The Boone County Libertarian Party has scheduled a meet-and-greet event for the public from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Grand Cru restaurant, 2600 S. Providence Road.

Scheduled speakers include Missouri Libertarian Party Chairman Glen Nielsen and Ron Calzone, chairman of the Missouri Citizens for Property Rights.

The property rights group is collecting signatures on two petitions that would ask voters to place on the ballot a constitutional amendment intended to eliminate eminent domain abuse.

Christopher Dwyer, a Libertarian candidate for the 19th Senate District seat in the Missouri General Assembly, also is scheduled to attend.
