Highland again ends Blair Oaks’ playoff run

MOBERLY - Highland boys basketball Coach Clyde Rosencrans might want to look into changing his salary to hourly pay. Four days after his seventh-ranked Cougars outlasted South Shelby in overtime for the Class 3 District 7 championship, Rosencrans’ club needed two more extra periods to extinguish Blair Oaks from the state playoffs, beating the Falcons 65-58 in sectional play last night at Moberly Area Community College.

Hornets sting Bulldogs

HANNIBAL - Opponents have a lot to contend with when they play the Westran girls basketball team. Senior guard Kayla Rice possesses unmatched ballhandling skills and loves to attack the basket. Rice, a Wichita State recruit, often ends up at the free-throw line and makes teams pay for fouling.

Harrisburg boys survive scare

HANNIBAL - Harrisburg boys basketball Coach Steve Combs said his goal was to be back in the Harrisburg High School gym this afternoon. He didn’t care under what circumstances it occurred, he just wanted to be able to train his team in preparation for Saturday’s Class 2 quarterfinal.
