Columbia campaign nears goal

University of Missouri Chancellor Brady Deaton announced yesterday that the university had reached 90 percent of its goal of raising $1 billion.

CAMPAIGN’S
TOP DONORS

● Donald W. Reynolds Foundation: $31 million for Reynolds Journalism Institute

● Bill and Nancy Laurie: $25 million for Mizzou Arena construction

● Gordon E. Crosby Jr.: $10 million for MBA Program in the Trulaske College of Business

● Margaret Waters Jordan: $8.3 million for Chancellor’s Fund for Excellence & University Hospital & Clinics

● William and Nancy Thompson: $8.5 million for Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders

For All We Call Mizzou, a fundraising campaign begun on the Columbia campus in 2002, hit $913.67 million after February donations were counted, adding to the university’s ability to provide scholarships, endowed professorships and capital projects and contribute to its strategic goals.

Nearly $189 million of the fund provides 1,500 merit-based and need-based scholarships to students. Contributions of $69 million helped create 85 endowed faculty positions.

Other donations have created the McDougall Center for Photojournalism, renamed the College of Business and contributed to the new Thompson Center for Autism & Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
