RHYME AND REASON
The snow sneaks
Thick, slick flakes
Cold, crystalline
Sky scrapings
Sparkle spun
Like struck steel
Sun streaked.

The Elopement
She left her teddy bear at home
And lots of rubbish on the floor.
I made my way into her room
And opened up the closet door.
Her clothes were gone, and there instead
Was a note which I quickly read:
“Got married. And we’re going away.”
I went to the window, to the light of day
To read again what she had to say.
So many years,
So many hopes
Dissevered.
