eclipses the 2,000 mark

Yvonne Anderson’s 28 points helped her surpass 2,000 for her career and the Hickman girls basketball team beat Hazelwood Central 53-44 last night. Miriam Tesfamikael added six points, eight rebounds and four steals and Nicole Schulz scored all nine of her points off 3-pointers for the Kewpies (11-5). BreAnna McLaughlin scored 16 points to help the Hawks to a 16-4 lead after the first quarter. But Hickman outscored Hazelwood Central 33-13 in the middle quarters to take a 37-29 lead into the fourth. ● North Callaway 41, Tipton 39: North Callaway improved to 3-0 in Mid-Missouri Conference play and 12-1 overall with a home win. Samantha Heck led the Thunderbirds with 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks. Jordan Crisp added 11 points, and Laura Love added 10. Tipton (7-6, 0-3) was led by Rachel Backes, who scored 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and Shelby Knipp, who scored 12 points. ● Harrisburg 47, South Callaway 38: Ashley Fisher scored 17 points to lead Harrisburg (5-9). Jamie Dye scored 13 points to lead South Callaway while Rachel McCarthy added 11 points.
Men’s swimming ● Pittsburgh Duals: The Tigers left the pool leading in three of their four duals in Pittsburgh, Pa. Missouri leads Maryland, Pittsburgh and Villanova and trails Penn State by an 87-77 margin heading into today’s final day of action. Dylan Lynn was MU’s lone winner. He clocked a time of 4 minutes, 2.62 seconds to win in the 400-yard individual medley. In the 100 butterfly, Gilad Kaufman placed second in 50.33. Greg DeStephen placed third in the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 303.75. Freshman Spenser Lauver took third in the 1,650 freestyle in 16:01.81. Travis Floyd was third in the 100 backstroke in 51.12. Martin Cernansky finished third in the 100 breaststroke in 57.53. The 200 medley relay team of Floyd, Cernansky, Kaufman and freshman Jordan Hawley placed second in a time of 1:32.57. The 200 free relay team of Hawley, Kaufman, Joe Wiedemeier and Lynn followed suit, placing second in 1:24.05.
