Kewpies rally, win in Quincy
Harrisburg boys, girls beat Fayette.

The Hickman boys basketball team was trailing at halftime last night against Quincy, Ill., Notre Dame but put together a strong second half to claim a 56-46 road victory. Lyle Harris led all scorers with 17 points for the Kewpies, who trailed 23-21 at the break. Eric Franklin added 12 points, including going 8 for 8 from the free-throw line. Ben Dierkes made three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points for Hickman (5-8). Tim Bearden led Notre Dame (8-6) with 16 points but left the game with two minutes remaining because of a sprained ankle. ● Harrisburg 79, Fayette 41: Taylor Perrigo led all scorers with 22 points, including three 3-pointers as the Bulldogs improved to 7-1. Cory Via and Tyler Hudlow each added 12 points for Harrisburg, while Josh Taylor chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds. Xavian Crump led Fayette with 15 points. ● Blair Oaks 59, North Callaway 41: The Falcons built a 39-14 halftime lead in Wardsville and cruised from there. Andrew Pointer led Blair Oaks (7-2) with 19 points. Keaton Oestrich’s 12 points topped North Callaway (0-8). The Thunderbirds will take the seventh seed into the South Callaway Tournament that begins on Monday.
Girls Basketball ● Harrisburg 66, Fayette 32: Ashley Fisher scored 33 points and Corrine Roller added 13 points to give the Bulldogs (2-7) an easy road win. The Falcons (3-4) were led by Catherine Kyle with 18 points and Kaitlyn Bailay with 10 points. ● Monroe City 52, Moberly 47: Tierney Seifert scored 23 points, but the freshman’s effort wasn’t enough to keep the Spartans (1-11) from dropping their final game in the South Shelby Tournament. Fellow freshmen MaKayla Gairrett, Shelby Sutherland and Akielia Rucker each added eight points for Moberly, which begins play in the California Tournament on Tuesday. Laura Williams scored 35 points for Monroe City.
