Columbia police yesterday arrested a man who ran into a home in west Columbia yesterday to avoid being captured by officers who had pursued his vehicle down Interstate 70.
Ramelus D. Bradley, 26, of Columbia was arrested at 12:54 p.m. on suspicion of resisting arrest and on a felony warrant for trafficking in dangerous drugs. Police attempted to stop the vehicle Bradley allegedly was driving at about 12:30 p.m. on the interstate near Providence Road, police Capt. Stephen Monticelli said. The chase reached 60 mph on Stadium Boulevard, Monticelli said. Eleven police officers were involved. Bradley did not initially stop but pulled over after exiting the interstate near Stadium, Monticelli said. Bradley headed north on Stadium when the traffic light turned green. The chase ended in the 2300 block of Primrose Drive. Bradley left the car and ran into 2101 Gus Court, which he told police is the next-door portion of a duplex where his girlfriend lives. He went upstairs and tried to cross over to the other unit through the attic, Monticelli said. Residents of the Gus Court residence were home at the time, Monticelli said. Police also issued Bradley traffic citations for driving with a suspended or revoked license, failure to signal and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner. In September, Bradley was arrested after police allegedly found 8 grams of drugs, including ecstasy pills, crack, powered cocaine and marijuana, during a routine traffic stop in Columbia.
