MAKING A DIFFERENCE

When Claire Friedrichsen, then 13 and attending Jefferson Junior High School,
filled out her application to be a part of the Boone Hospital Center Volunteen
Program, she answered the question, "Why do you want to become a volunteen?"
as follows: "In my last experience as a volunteer I found it very rewarding
to help people. It makes me feel that I’m part of the community, giving what I
can to make it better. … By being a volunteen I’ll feel better about myself,
my community and my future."
