Terrence Curry had been in awe of Damien Nash since they first met in a 1998 state playoff football game. Curry was a senior at Kirkwood. Nash was a sophomore at Riverview Gardens but already a phenom.

Missouri softball team wins Lady’Back invite

The Missouri softball team won the Lady’Back Invitational yesterday, beating Wichita State 10-7 in Fayetteville, Ark. The Tigers (14-6) advanced to the championship game with a 12-10 victory over host Arkansas yesterday. Missouri had 26 hits on the day.

BOSTON (AP) - Former University of Missouri standout Christian Cantwell won the shot put with a throw of 71 feet, 3¼ inches to beat Reese Hoffa and Dan Taylor - the top three competitors in the world this year - yesterday at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
