Anderson scores 27 in victory
Hickman girls take consolation game.

Behind a strong defensive effort and another big night from Yvonne Anderson, the Hickman girls basketball team beat Scott County, Ky., 70-56 yesterday in the consolation game of the KTXR Lady Classic in Springfield.

Anderson scored a game-high 27 points, giving her a three-game total of 95, which broke the previous tournament scoring record of 92. Defense and rebounding proved to be the difference in yesterday’s game, as the Kewpies (7-3) outrebounded Scott County 40-25. They also contained Dayton recruit Kayla Moses, who despite scoring 23 points was held to just 6-of-22 shooting from the field.

Chasity Prince scored 19 points and made three 3-pointers. The Kewpies also got a big lift early from Nicole Schulz, who hit a pair of early 3-pointers to help loosen up Scott County’s zone defense.
