Dentist employee accused of theft
Published Friday, December 28, 2007
NIXA (AP) - A southwest Missouri dentist might have lost at least $26,500 to an employee who oversaw his office accounting. The employee, 42-year-old Sandra J. Martin, is charged with felony stealing at Butterfield Dentistry in Nixa. According to a probable cause statement, dentist Michael Butterfield asked Martin to bring him his credit card statements after one of his office credit cards was declined earlier this month. Instead of bringing the records, Martin left the office. Butterfield found a note from Martin saying she was resigning immediately. Police said the dentist looked through records and found several discrepancies in his checkbook ledger and on his credit card statements. Copyright 2007 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
