Teen to be tried as adult in cop killing

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A judge has ruled that the 15-year-old accused of killing a St. Louis police officer in August should be tried as an adult. Antonio Andrews is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Officer Norvelle Brown. The shooting happened while Brown was on patrol. In a ruling announced yesterday, St. Louis Circuit Judge Thomas Frawley says there are no reasonable prospects for rehabilitation for Andrews within the juvenile justice system. Andrews could face life in prison without parole. If tried in juvenile court, he could have been eligible for release at age 21 or younger. Andrews is being held on $1 million cash-only bond.
