SECOND THOUGHTS

Second Thoughts includes corrections, clarifications and elaboration associated with Tribune news articles. When you see something that bothers you, call Managing Editor Jim Robertson at 815-1707.

A story yesterday about state Sen. Chuck Graham’s DWI arrest misspelled the name of Columbia police Sgt. Shelley Jones. Also, a Columbia Police Department transcript of a meeting early Oct. 21 between Jones, University Hospital physician Scott Schultz and other university employees, published under the headline "Transcript details urine conflict," should not have included an incorrect reference attributed to Schultz about Officer Dan Weaver. Instead, Schultz was referring to Graham. The sentence in the third passage attributed to Schultz should have read: "All right, so apparently he (Graham) was driving drunk and we all know it, that’s fine; I think whatever should happen to him should happen to him."

A story yesterday about Columbia’s new biogas plant inaccurately referenced the amount of trash that enters the city’s landfill each year. The story should have said the Columbia landfill contains more than 2 million tons of trash.
