State revenue increase fills Missouri coffers

JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Missouri started the new fiscal year off strong, with revenue increasing in July by 6.4 percent, state officials said yesterday.

Missouri’s net general revenue for July was $482.3 million, up from $453.2 million in July 2006, the Office of Administration said.

Missouri’s fiscal year runs from July through June.

Individual income tax collections rose by 3.9 percent, to $322.7 million.

Sales tax collections rose by 10.7 percent in the first month of the fiscal year, from $132.8 million last year to $147 million this year.
