LINCOLN, Neb. - The Missouri Tigers hoped a visit to Nebraska would all but punch their ticket to Kansas City, site of next month’s Big 12 Conference championship game.

Date with greatness again seems so far away

LINCOLN, Neb. - Early in the season, there were hints that this Missouri football team was different, better, than what we’ve seen in previous autumns. The Tigers won road games at New Mexico and Texas Tech and handled the lowlifes on the schedule without incident. They showed signs of being a complete team, with a balanced offense and an opportunistic defense.

Zane Hardy had already qualified for state in the 50-yard freestyle, but heading into yesterday’s Last Chance Meet, the Hickman junior knew he had one final opportunity to do the same in the 100 free. Earlier this season, at the Columbia High School Invitational, Hardy had missed the state time by one one-hundredth of a second.
