Jefferson City woman dies in Forum wreck

A Jefferson City woman died last night in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Forum Boulevard and Chapel Hill Road.

Columbia police said in a news release Lois A. Papen, 41, of Jefferson City was westbound on Chapel Hill at about 5:45 p.m., turning south onto Forum when her car collided with a northbound sport utility vehicle driven by Stephanie J. Hummel, 31, of Columbia. Both women were taken to University Hospital, where Papen died. Police said Hummel was in stable condition last night.

Hummel was wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, police said. They had no information about Papen’s seat belt.
