Frances Colbert, 1916-2006

Frances L. Curren Colbert, 89, of Columbia died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at University Hospital.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 9, at Progressive Baptist Church, 702 Banks Ave., with the Rev. Ray Warren officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Warren Funeral Chapel, 12 E. Ash St. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Triplett to Arthur Curren and Veta Tolson Curren.

She was married to Odon Colbert.

She attended Mount Celestial Baptist Church. She worked as a foster grandmother.

Survivors include one son, James Benson of Fayetteville, N.C.; one daughter, June Dameron Parks of Oceanside, Calif.; two sisters, Pauline Buckner and Mary Glasgow, both of Columbia; several nieces and nephews; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother and two sisters.
