Voters can trust Dykhouse to be a good, caring leader
Editor, the Tribune: I first met C.J. Dykhouse when I was 5 years old and going through my parents’ divorce. When my mom was in a meeting, C.J. sat with me and colored in my superheroes coloring book. C.J. helped me by explaining what was going on and making things easier for me.

Belief in stem-cell research must be supported by votes
Editor, the Tribune: Early stem cell research is an ongoing attempt to find cures nationwide. Missouri research teams, doctors, community leaders and millions of people with disease and disabilities all just want Missouri to keep the same research opportunities currently practiced in other states.

It’s no one else’s business if owners allow smoking
Editor, the Tribune: I am a nonsmoker and have been all my life. But the better-than-thou attitude over smoking is becoming ridiculous. If the owner of a business wants smoking allowed, then it is his or her business. If people choose not to come and spend money, then the owner will adjust as he or she wants. As far as workers, they may choose other jobs in less dangerous environments. Once again, it’s their choice.

Daniels has temperance, experience for the bench
Editor, the Tribune: Deborah Daniels is the person best qualified for the associate judge position for which she is running. My family moved to Columbia in 1957. As a trial lawyer for 28 years in California and Missouri (now retired), I believe I have the background and experience to evaluate judicial candidates, particularly because I won’t be appearing before them.
