Marshall couple dies in bedroom blaze
Published Tuesday, June 6, 2006
MARSHALL (AP) - A fire broke out in a home early yesterday, killing a sleeping couple, authorities said. R.D. Shepard and his wife, Tiny Shepard, apparently were asleep when a fire broke out in the bedroom of their home. Their ages were not available. Tony Day, Marshall assistant fire chief, said fire damage was confined to the bedroom of the home, above the garage. The cause was under investigation. Day said firefighters responded about 1 a.m. and were on the scene for nearly four hours. They were the city’s first deaths as a result of a structure fire since 1995.
