In the fall of 2001, in the wake of Sept. 11, President George W. Bush urged Americans to go about their business as usual, unintimidated by the terrorist threat. He played his part by not asking them to make any real sacrifices, such as paying higher taxes to finance the fight against the enemy.
Government incompetence is a given
