In the first game, which was resumed with a 4-4 score in the seventh inning after being postponed by rain Thursday, the Mavericks scored three runs in the eighth inning. The Mavericks (28-40) scored twice on bases-loaded walks and then got an RBI single from shortstop Cooper Vittitow.

Jake Whitesides went 3 for 4, Bill Greenwell was 3 for 5 and Blake Blasé and Seth Brown were 2 for 3. Brian Ross (1-2) got the victory, throwing 2 2/3 innings of relief and giving up one run.

The Kings are now 25-42.
